about me (and this blog) 

wow, okay, i’ve gained a ton of followers because of liv’s astonishing kindness, so i should introduce myself and tell y’all a bit about how this blog works.

hi! my name is sidonie (on the interwebs, at least—irl it’s katie). i’m a college student, an idealist, a feminist, a liberal, an atheist (with a bunch of weird religionfeels idek), and a pretty ridiculous human being. i used to be stringent about grammar and punctuation and capitalization but then the internet got to me and tbh i don’t regret that.

this is a multifandom blog. i like to think my taste is pretty good as a general rule, but it also takes strange swan dives into badness from time to time (ouat, merlin, hawaii five-0, and glee are my peripheral fandoms of bitterness and despair). i’m invested in character over plot, and thematic coherence is my everything. as for types of characters, i most often stan fierce ladies and broken asshole dudes, which much of the time overlap in the greater category “villains” (the sad fact that steely powerful unapologetic women so often get cast as the bad guys is a discussion for another day). outside tv/movie/lit fandoms, i’m also big into mythology (especially norse and greek), fairytales, and some parts of history (it would be more parts but there is a lot of history to learn). i’m unhealthily obsessed with shakespeare.

i have quite a few really close friends on tumblr and you will see me talking with them a lot. i occasionally indulge in academic liveblogging (when a reading is particularly interesting and/or infuriating or a paper is coming along slowly). fic sometimes happens, but not often (if only i had the time). this is frequently a social justice blog, and i’m also really interested in politics, which has shown through recently due to the upcoming presidential election (lol republican primary lol).

as far as academic/critical schools of thought go, i most strongly identify with postmodernists. i despise modernists/formalists/douchebags (shh shh let me have my vendetta) with a passion, although i can occasionally be persuaded to see merit in their arguments.

with regards to my tags, THIS IS NOT A SPOILER-FREE BLOG. this is hazardous for ASoIaF/GoT in particular, so people in the process of reading/watching might want to tumblr savior #there are no heroes. also, the tags are in a weird state of flux between specific names and personalized ones. whoops, what is an organization.
